Blue Star Joan “Blue Girl”

2001 blue roan mare

Blue Girl is the foundation of our mare power. She is correctly made, has an excellent disposition, willingness to please, and longevity. While in college, I worked for Fredericksen Quarter Horses. Blue Girl was one of their mares and she quickly became my favorite. After a year of working there, I deployed to Iraq. Upon my return from OIF, Marlyn and Joan gave me Blue Girl’s filly (Mouse) from the previous year (2008). After some time the Fred’s decided to retire from raising quarter horses and sold all their broodmares to Froelich Quarter Horses. When we decided to grow our mare herd, I knew where we had to start.

Looking for breeding sound daughters out of this mare.

Hickorys blue joan “mouse”

2008 bay mare

Mouse was given to me when I returned home from Iraq. This picture-perfect made bay mare travelled with me to Kansas while I attended Kansas State, and then made every move with me until we ended up in Sheyenne, ND. This mare is known for her consistency in the arena and on the ranch. She is loyal, fearless, and takes care of her people. Mouse has saved my bacon on more than one occasion. She’s a proven ranch horse, and a rodeo and ranch rodeo money earner.
